Scarborough Pet Wellness Services

scarborough pet wellness examination As people who have dedicated our lives to the care of animals–and pet owners ourselves–we at Bridletowne Warden Animal Hospital truly understand how important our animal companions are to each and every one of our veterinary clients. Your pet is a special, unique and important member of your family. This is why our Scarborough veterinarians and staff endeavor to be at the forefront of providing comprehensive care specifically designed to meet the particular needs of your pet.

Preventative Pet Care

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, so the old saying goes. At Bridletowne Warden Animal Hospital, our veterinarians and our medical staff recommend regular wellness examinations for the same reason that your personal physician or dentist recommends them: if a health problem or issue can be detected in its early stages, there is a far greater likelihood that it can be resolved and treated with less difficulty, less expense and greater success.

Accessible Pet Wellness Care

We have extended pet wellness appointments, accept walk-ins, routinely arrange follow-up calls to clients to report on test results and check on a patient's progress after an illness or surgery. We also can communicate with our clients in a number of languages, which include English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Spanish. Our pet wellness clinic wants to ensure that routine pet wellness is accessible to our clients as possible. In every sense, we are committed to making each client visit the best it can be.

Pet Wellness Exams

During your pet's wellness examination, our veterinarians perform a complete physical to assess your pet's overall health and to give you, the pet owner, an opportunity to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. Have you noticed any recent subtle shifts in your pet's health or behavior? Have you observed any changes in body weight, appetite, water intake, urination and bowel habits, and/or activity level? Changes may be signs of medical problems. Seemingly insignificant lumps and bumps under the skin may be indications of infection or cancer. Ear infections, abscessed teeth and gum disease are common, painful conditions that may not become noticeable until seriously advanced. A comprehensive physical examination helps your veterinarian and you evaluate your pet's health and make informed decisions about your special companion's veterinary care.

The Pet Wellness Exam Process

During each pet wellness exam our veterinarian will perform a "nose-to-tail" evaluation of your pet. We will examine his or her vision, hearing, heart and lung functions, test the joints and muscles, check for unusual lumps or growths on your pet's body, and more.

We will also create and provide you with a Pet Report Card, which lists health-related information about your pet such as ratings for general appearance as well as musculoskeletal, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, and neural system health. The Pet Report Card will list any concerns you might have about your pet during your visit, findings and plans for care, a recommended diet, list of preventative procedures performed or needed, and other advice to help you better care for your pet.
